For the seventh year in a row, members of the Parker Artists Guild (PAG) are preparing for Art in the Park.
This year there will be sixty tents for individual artist displays set up in shady O'Brien Park, along with another five tents being shared among 18 other artists.
This is not a craft fair but a display of the work of the community's finest artists. Virtually every art medium is represented including oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolors, photography, sculpture, fused glass, mixed media and much more.
Coordinating the show this year is Nancy Yarrison and a committee of experienced members. The show will be bigger and better than ever, with musical entertainment provided by students from The Performing Arts High School, Denver, and Elizabeth High School on Saturday, August 29 th from 1:00 p.m. and the group Paradoux on Sunday, August 30, from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
A children's art station will be set up by PAG and The Academy of Art. A food court will offer hot dogs, chips, snacks, ices and cold beverages.
Sponsors include The Bank of Choice, and Intermountain Rural Electric Association. The show is open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, August 29 & 30. Entry is free. Visitors are encouraged to bring the kids and have a leisurely stroll through the park. While in Old Town Parker check out the ParkerFest activities along Mainstreet and drop in at the Mainstreet Center to see the art exhibit, "A Celebrating Art in Douglas County."
