Blog Entry 38 of 39 Got a small plumbing job and don't want to pay big
Does the sink clog up on you every month? Wondering if you need a water filter and what type should you get? How about paying someone to winterize your sprinklers and swamp cooler when you could do it for next to nothing. When is it time to call in a professional and what do I look for in choosing one. I am a master plumber who's been in the business for 25 years. I've worked for many outfits (some reputable, some not) and I'm here to help as I dive into the world of journalism. Red light district- Part two

I often leave the beaten path of plumbing blogs to flex my literary muscle on other subjects. Metaphorically speaking, I'm the skinny guy on the beach who gets sand kicked in his face. My article, "Living in the red light district," was no exception.

Three weeks after posting the blog on YourHub.com, I received a letter in the mail from the city of Arvada.
Traffic Operation Engineer, Joe Resseguie was kind enough to not only read my blog, but respond to it as well.

Resseguie stated the traffic lights along Wadsworth Boulevard are not under the control of Arvada, but of CDOT. He also provided me with information (listed at the bottom of the page) on who to contact with complaints regarding traffic problems on Wadsworth.

I called CDOT and spoke with Jeff Lancaster who told me they have received a "fair amount of complaints" regarding the intersections of and near I-70 and Wadsworth.
Lancaster said CDOT will be conducting a timing study on Wadsworth in the next couple of months. He was also very patient while listening to my whining and welcomed any further communications on the subject of traffic coordination.

Although Wadsworth is the worst example of ineffective traffic lighting in Arvada, my own personal driving experience still compels me to designate our fair city as the "red light district." I say this as an objective opinion, not an epithet.

Thanks to YourHub.com, we have means of communication to express our individual gripes, comments and positive input. The point of most blogs is not to berate individuals or organizations, but to better our community. Without feedback and comments, these blogs would be pointless and moot. Thanks to those who have contributed.

For individual traffic complaints in the city of Arvada, you can reach Traffic Operations Engineer Joe Resseguie at 720-898-9511.

For comments, questions orcomplaints regarding larger avenues (mainly Wadsworth), you can reach Traffic Coordination Engineer Tanya Bower at tanya.bower@dot.state.co.us or call CDOT at 303-757-9511.

I want to thank Joe and Jeff for their responses. I'm sure you guys are doing the best job possible (man I'm a suck-up).

Later,
Mike

Great to know blogs are read and blogs generate action, if only in the way of response sometimes.

Move over Martino!

Good for you, Micheal. And hopefully good for everyone who has to drive that section of Wadsworth.

It's good to hear that the city was so proactive about responding to your concerns, Mike.
