22nd Annual Chicago Blues Festival

I am excited about the opportunity to attend the 22nd Annual Chicago Blues Festival this year. This is like going to a revival. It will happen June 9-12 with the music starting at 12:00 noon everyday.

I have been a bluesman ever since my sister gave me my first Buddy Guy record when I was still in Junior High (in the late 60's). While my friends were listening to The Lemon Pipers, I was getting blown away listening to some of greatest guitar playing that I have yet to hear duplicated by anyone. Every time I go back and listen to this stuff I am amazed at how powerful it is. It is not for everyone, but if you like your music intense, you'll be at home.

Buddy Guy will be at the festival this year. My wife and I see him every time he is even close to Colorado. Other performers at the festival this year will be John Mayall and the Bluebreakers with Mick Taylor, Koko Taylor and her Bluesmachine, and Robert Lockwood. There are many other performers too numerous to mention here.

I am always ready to share with other people interested in the blues. I am from the old school but am also exited about the up and coming young people that are going to carry the torch into the next generation of blues. Be on the look out for Shannon Curfman. This girl can wail! Of course Johnny Lang and Kenney Wayne Sheppard already have their place in history as great young blues musicians.

I hope that I have other Arvadian's that will be at the festival this year. Let me know if you plan on going at I will see you there.
