Q: Competition is getting the best of me, despite the fact that we haven't changed anything. Am I missing something here?
A: Have you surveyed your competition to find out what they're doing? Have you surveyed your customers that have left? Do you know what sets you apart from your competition? Do you really know what your customers need from you to be 'delighted' when they buy from you? To stay ahead of the competition, these are questions to ask and then answer.
In business, you're either growing or dying. To grow, you need to embrace positive change. Your customers expect you to get better, even though you may believe you're the best. Maintain an awareness of your competition and continuously innovate to keep your current customers and attract new ones.
Do you maintain adequate contact with your customer base? You may be losing customers to your competition due to 'perceived indifference'. In other words, they may
perceive that you may not care enough about them because of a lack of communication or innovation. Stay in touch with your customers and see what innovations you can introduce over time.
