Vol. 7 - This Week's Question for Coach Earl
Contributed by: Earl Kemper   on 1/2/2007

Q: In this litigious society, I'm wondering if its still practical to have a guarantee?

A: The short answer is ABSOLUTELY! Having said that, I want to emphasize that a guarantee is only as good as its perceived value. That is, the client or prospect must perceive the value and know that you are serious about supporting the guarantee, otherwise it may be perceived only as 'fluff' or a 'come on'.

Also, a guarantee is not just another way to open yourself up to a potential liability. Many small business owners are frightened of guarantees - they honestly think that customers will only want to rip them off. The real purpose of a guarantee is to create credibility and assurance in the marketplace.

Why Does A Guarantee Work? It increases confidence, provides security, reduces risk, builds trust and can help you create a real difference in the marketplace. Carefully worded guarantees can dramatically increase your conversion rate and give you the opportunity to stand behind it and ultimately create 'Raving Fans' by under-promising and over-delivering!
