I received an email Monday, 2 days ago from a couple, clients of mine who are retired down in Arizona. The husband has been walking every day to loose weight so he would qualify for a preferred rating for an updated life insurance policy. While doing so hefound a house for sale, about a mile away from there current location which is a bit larger than what they currently own. They mentioned they are breaking at the seems and would like more room if the right opportunity came up and guess what...
While walking, this house a year ago was valued/selling at $500k.... Well, theclosing is in Dec. 08 and the purchase price is for $369k. Holy smokes, what a deal. Fortunately, they do not need to sell there current residence to purchases this new one. Financing has been approved, $100k will be put down on the new place, and the current residence, completely paid for, will be rented out until such time it makes sense to sell it.
So the moral of this blog, is while many peopleare in situations which are not good, many others are taking advantage of the opportunities out there. Remember, a high percentage of the "rich" got that way by taking advantage of opportunities in a "down market".
For ideas and solutions that will work for you and your family, Ido encourage you to talk to your "strategic partner" or find one which you are able to work with.
