Blog Entry 1 of 39 Got a small plumbing job and don't want to pay big
Does the sink clog up on you every month? Wondering if you need a water filter and what type should you get? How about paying someone to winterize your sprinklers and swamp cooler when you could do it for next to nothing. When is it time to call in a professional and what do I look for in choosing one. I am a master plumber who's been in the business for 25 years. I've worked for many outfits (some reputable, some not) and I'm here to help as I dive into the world of journalism. C'mon in and lay on the couch...now...what's bothering you? Contact Dr. Plumb by clicking "send me a message" in the contributor information box

Dr. Plumb is in. Let's talk plumbing.

We all have bathrooms, water heaters and kitchens in our home. When a problem arises most people call a plumber and pull out thier checkbook.

In almost every occasion you can diagnose and probably fix these problems on your own. I am a master plumber with over 25 years experience in the field.

After a long stint away from school, I am now returning to pursue a degree in journalism. What better way to get the word out than to help you with what I know best.

Let's take an in-depth look at your plumbing issues. Gas lines, water filters, toilets, sinks and water heaters will be some of the main issues.

We will also explore new technology like tankless water heaters, hi-tech toilet seats and new tools to help you with your journey to plumbing bliss.

Send me pictures and a detailed account of what's been done and what you want to do.

I'm glad you agree with me on its qualities! My husband & I have decided to install PEX in lieu of copper. We just gutted our basement and will probably start plumbing in a week or so. I'm sure I'll have a ton of ?'s.

Good idea for a blog, Micheal. I just moved into an older apartment, so I might have some questions for you if the plumbing decides to act up.

Pex is cheaper and easier to service with no need for a torch or the preparations that go with copper piping. The fittings are simple to install with quick lock hubs, which easily push on. If you make a mistake the fittings are removable and reusable. I do like Pex because of its simplicity. The "big" hardware stores are starting to carry more related products as well. Let me know what you're going to do with it and I'll try to help you get there efficiently. Thanks Carrie B. Dr. Plumb P.s.--For more information on Pex visit www.wirsbo.com
