Blog Entry 9 of 30 Musings and Misc nonsense
I just finished up my degree in Business/Marketing (big smile), February 2008. I know I'll need to replace all the great discussions from classes and hope to do that here.. and the occasional rant. Personally, I have a first new grandchild, one 19 yr old left at home... and enjoy online card games.. poker, spades, hearts, euchre.. Oh yeah, I live in Arvada.

I hate to admit it, but ...

I hate to admit it, but ... our community in Arvada is going to hell...

Just tonight, the bank across the street was robbed. The Arvada Police were going around with assault-type weapons ...

After all the crime we've seen, the murders especially ... and the robberies ... the death ... the crime... I have to say I'm proud of the Arvada Police Department.

They are really standing up and taking everything seriously.

They are responding in a way you would expect the FBI or something would do.

Since we've had so much serious crime here, in a community we used to think of as safe, they are responding in a way that they expect the worst. They want these people doing these things.

So if we start to feel unsafe, our department is doing everything they can to make us feel safe again ...

I talked with the gas station attendant nearby tonight, and he witnessed the whole 1st Bank robbery and arrest. From what he described, I'm glad I live here ...

Arvada Police are making me feel safe even in a volatile time.

I've seen that question on the Dr.s questionaire, too. I like to answer, "Not yet. If you prescribe something strong enough, I won't need one."

About the question on the Dr's office questionnaire.. that is weird they ask if you have weapons in the house... Maybe they want to know in case of depression.. They have better reason to lock you up ... oh dear...

lol... yes.. the whole world is going to hell.. but if you read about other cultures... you realize that the real people there.. are just like us... living in their own version of hell.. Ellipses? the three dots I always include.. lol... Sorry.. it's a way for me to write not so formally, like in school... which I'm just about to graduate from with a DEGREE!

I am curious about your use of ellipses; is it to show reflections between thoughts? The reason I ask is that I'm a "read aloud in my head" reader, so I keep pausing between phrases, making it feel disconnected. That's probably just me, though. I do appreciate the sentiment of respecting police.

Totally unrelated, but I went to a new doctor this morning, and one of the questions among the do you smoke, drink, exercise questions on the health questionnaire was if I have a gun and if so do I keep it locked. I thought that was funny :-)

It's all about being aware of your surroundings.. more than having a weapon.. Just look around you at all times.. That's the best defense... Thank you for your comment... Your wife and kids will be fine...

I, too love Arvada. Hadn't heard about the bank robbery, though. Makes me a little more uneasy about leaving for a year. Don't know your feelings, Paula, but I feel a little better about going overseas because I know my wife is trained and capable in the defensive use of a handgun. Before any screams, yes, we have kids and no, they don't know about, nor can they access any weapons. But in the case of someone intent on harming my family, my wife can and will see to the safety of our kids. I, too, have the utmost respect for our Police Department.
