I like living in Arvada.I am a member of Trinity Baptist Church and have many good friends there.I lived in the same house in Denver until I married, so as you can see, I am a native.My husband and I adopted 2 Korean sons who are now adults, 1 is a State Patrol Sgt., the other is an upholsterer. My husband died Sept.1st,2005. My family is a real blessing to me.I will probably write most about them, especially my great grandchildren (3)

One of the hardest things for we seniors to deal with is the change in our churches. Now, I know that the young people are the future of our church and our country and our church needs to make a place of welcome and interest for them.

However! What about those of us who miss the wonderful hymns that we grew up singing? Those songs told stories and gave praise to God.
They told us that we are kept "Under His wings," what a great time we will have "When we all get to heaven", "The old rugged cross made the difference",What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see".

The choruses that we sing now are so different. Some are worshipful but many are light and fluffy. I have heard them called 7/11 choruses, they have 7 words and we sing them 11 times.

I love my church, Trinity Baptist. We have a very good young pastor who is very intelligent and very dedicated to his calling BUT, yes there is always a but, I think things are changing too much and our young people are missing out on some great traditions.

I am thankful that we have a large younger group and good leaders for them. We have a community youth night every Friday night to let the neighborhood kids know that we are here for them.

Every once in a while they throw in a hymn and it is fun to sing them to the lively music.
