I like living in Arvada.I am a member of Trinity Baptist Church and have many good friends there.I lived in the same house in Denver until I married, so as you can see, I am a native. My husband and I adopted 2 Korean sons who are now adults, 1 is a State Patrol Sgt., the other is an upholsterer. My husband died Sept.1st,2005. My family is a real blessing to me.I will probably write most about them, especially my great grandchildren (3)

A girl named Ginny
Contributed by: Gladys Mercier   on 9/1/2006

My niece wrote this to her mother, my sister-in-law. I think it is great!

Ode to Ginny Simpson, by Gail Bryan.

There once was a girl named Ginny, she grew up with hardly a penny.
The farm was a struggle, it rained but a puddle
And the vegetables were not very many.
She found that she shined learning the secretarial grind
In classes at Adams City High.
She dreamed of chairing a ball, so she set her dreams real tall.
She started to think that at the roller rink, she would find a man who had it all.
That Harold! Well, he was her ticket to get away from a house with no spicket.
It was going to be slow before the water would flow Lickety Splicket!
The war came and off Harold went, leaving her pregnant and not very content.
Two rooms and a path to the outhouse out back
Was not the "ticket" that Ginny had meant.
When Harold came home from the scuffle, he bought her a hoe and a shovel.
She hoped he'd come through after kid number two
So they poured concrete and lived in a hovel.
In the basement in dear Adams City along came a girl looking pretty.
Three kids were enough. It was time to do their stuff
And real estate made them both giddy.
They built houses -- one at a time --and sold them to make back their dime.
They finally got stable and were ready and able
To launch their real estate line.
With barely a car and a fender, they convinced Gordon to be their first lender.
Ginny did decor while Harold built more and God saw their dreams come to render.
It's amazing how far they have grown, from a shack to mansions they've flown.
But everyone knows it's the woman who glows.....

And it's Ginny who inspired Harold all along!
