I like living in Arvada.I am a member of Trinity Baptist Church and have many good friends there.I lived in the same house in Denver until I married, so as you can see, I am a native. My husband and I adopted 2 Korean sons who are now adults, 1 is a State Patrol Sgt., the other is an upholsterer. My husband died Sept.1st,2005. My family is a real blessing to me.I will probably write most about them, especially my great grandchildren (3)

Disneyland - my how you've grown!
Contributed by: Gladys Mercier   on 6/8/2007

I have been home since Wednesday evening and I can finally feel my feet again.
When Bob and I took our kids to Disneyland many years ago, it was easy to walk to each theme ride. Now, there is a monorail that the hotel advertises as coming right to the hotel, easy coming and going. Ha! We walked at least a half mile ( at least it felt like it) and then waited in a huge line to get on, only to do the same thing when we returned.

I wish I had Tiana's energy. She is 4 years old and never stopped running until she would finally pass out on Grandpa's shoulder and have to be carried back.
The first evening, we got out early to get a seat to see the light parade. After sitting for an hour or so, someone informed us that we were in the wrong place. Oh well, we would just sit another hour and a half until the fireworks started. Yes, they were beautiful.

Tiana had a "princess lunch" date the next day. She was so excited to see Ariel, Snow White, Belle, Cinderella and all the others. Then we went to Goofys Lunch where she had her picture taken with Goofy, Pluto, Dale and Chip. You get the idea, this trip was for Tiana although I think my son Don enjoyed it as much as she did.

One highlight of the trip for my daughter-in-law Janet was a Swedish massage at the Disney hotel. I won't mention that she lost her IDs, driver's license and all in the park and we were all in a panic until some kind soul found them and turned them in.

In San Diego, our hotel was on Mission Bay and the view was great. Tiana really liked making sand castles and I loved sitting there reading!
A dinner cruise on the Hornblower was fun, the ship was much larger than I expected and going under the Coronado bridge while it was lighted was nice.
We had a lovely dinner with my brother Harold and his wife, Virginia. It was great to see them again at their beautiful home in La Jolla.

Home really looked good Wednesday. California dreaming is over until August.
I really did miss YourHub.com. My son Ron was on notice to call me if I had a story in Thursday! Thanks to Seth for the nice words about me.

What fun! My family used to take us to Mission Bay and I remember eating at the Copper Penny Restaurant right on the water.

So glad you had a great time, Gladys. I went to Disneyland once when I was 15 and we only stayed there for one day. You can't be in Disneyland for one day. I think the photo of Tiana and Belle is so cute.

We missed you too, Gladys. Glad you had a good time. I loved watching my kids have fun at Disneyland and Disney World when the parks and my kids were littler and hope to repeat the experience with grandkids someday.
