I like living in Arvada.I am a member of Trinity Baptist Church and have many good friends there.I lived in the same house in Denver until I married, so as you can see, I am a native. My husband and I adopted 2 Korean sons who are now adults, 1 is a State Patrol Sgt., the other is an upholsterer. My husband died Sept.1st,2005. My family is a real blessing to me.I will probably write most about them, especially my great grandchildren (3)

One Great Place!

With all of the news in the paper about the tuberculosis patients and their treatment, I am reminded of the time our son Don had to be in National Jewish Hospital when he first arrived from Korea. We knew that as a condition of our adopting him, we would have to take him there until he was recovered from a mild form of TB, which took about 3 months.

This time was very hard for us and for him. We had picked him up in Portland, Oregon where he and 100 or so other orphans were flown to from Korea.
We had strict instructions to take him to the hospital upon arrival in Denver.
Of couse, we had already gotten attached to him and him to us and we wanted so much to bring him home. His brother Ron had come from Korea 2 years before that and he loved his new brother.

We checked him in to National Jewish with heavy hearts but soon found a very caring staff there. They told us that we could come at any time, day or night to visit with him and stay as long as we wanted. That did make it easier although his tears when we left were heart breaking. He spoke no english so we tried to convey the information that we would be back soon.

The doctors would let us take him home over the weekend after he had had some treatment but taking him back was tough.
.
Going home day finally came. He seemed to understand and came running to us with a happy face.

We will always appreciate National Jewish Hospital for their kindness and good care of our son. If we had not had insurance, there would have been no charge.
That is one great place!

Gorgeous boys, Gladys. Sorry your adoption "ordeal" (seems almost all adoptions are) had the added element of more separation stateside. Seems you all endured and thrived. Great story.

Had to take my boy to Children's, a trip there just makes you want to hug your kids that much more...
