Blog Entry 3 of 30 Musings and Misc nonsense
I just finished up my degree in Business/Marketing (big smile), February 2008. I know I'll need to replace all the great discussions from classes and hope to do that here.. and the occasional rant. Personally, I have a first new grandchild, one 19 yr old left at home... and enjoy online card games.. poker, spades, hearts, euchre.. Oh yeah, I live in Arvada.

Wish I'd started this a few years ago...

I took on a formerly feral cat a few years ago... I told his previous owner today that if I'd known what I was in for.. I wouldn't have done it... Today.. I'm so glad I did.

If I could give you the diary of this cat's life since he's been with me... you would see growth every day....

When he first came here.. I could hardly touch him.. but he was very ill. He had been hiding in his previous owner's basement when she was moving.. no food that we know of for a month... She worked at the gas station next door, and after we had spoken of a mutual love for animals, she asked if I could take care of a 'special needs' cat... oh my god.... I had no idea it was a cat who had never been touched...

After she brought him, she told me of his background.. I was like.. oh my god.. what have I done. But I started working with this guy... getting him expensive natural canned foods that were recommended by a local 'animal naturopath' ... Pet Empawrium... I locked him in a bedroom to keep him safe.. after I found that he'd go hide other places in the house. I spent 45 minutes at a time with him a few times a day... and worked on touching and finally was able to pet him for real...eventually he jumped over me.. and went to explore the house.. didn't take long however.

Today, he sits on my lap, eats from my hand, and interacts with my family... I'm so glad I took this 'guy' in.. He's been a blesssing... and a friend.. If I'd known his history, I wouldn't have had this kind of impact on this animal, or his on me
...It would have seemed too much to overcome...

I don't know his future, as he's pretty ill now due to recent stuff(but on meds, ;) but he's been more healthy than not though since I've had him...and the loviest cat you'll ever see. Sam....
