It is all opinion!
Pedantic responses to an Other's limited view. Be reasonable, see it my way.

[One person's vision ... ]
Technology is progressing at an exponential rate. With the advent of nanotechnology, robotics, and electronics, a new sexual future is quickly dawning. Will it be within the lifetime of someone reading this post? Surely it will.
Synthetic sex will quickly come into our lives. Already, lifesize female dolls made of synthetic materials costing as much as $15,000 are selling like hotcakes for various reasons. Reportedly, many of the buyers "love" their dolls and sometimes buy multiple "wives." The patented materials used feel incredibly lifelike, even if the doll is lifeless.
Enter robotics. It's only a matter of time until batteries, sound and other features are introduced, if they have not been already. More lifelike qualities can be introduced such as self-warming, movement, talking, etc. It's likely this will occur within 5 years, and will set off an "arms race" between various manufacturers to create the most lifelike woman (or perhaps man). More likely, synthetic lovers will be made real and "ideal."
Eventually, perhaps in as little as 20-30 years or less the realism/idealism will reach a stage where lifelong partnerships, even marriages are common with synthetic lovers. The synthetics will be lavished with the fruits of the labors (money) of the "reals."
How will reproduction occur? Conservative and/or religious people will likely stay with traditional, real marriage and reproduction for the foreseeable future. Choice specimen males with synthetic lovers will likely still feel the need to "spread seed" and stay in the gene pool via increasingly popular sperm banks. Raising children will be increasingly the burden of the real women, making it more difficult for them to reproduce, since they lack a financial partner. Only financially secure females who can afford to not only buy the sperm of select males, but also pay to raise and send the kids to college will be able to reproduce.

Great! But I'm worried. Your final sentence leads me to the inevetible conclusion that in the future only folks like Rosie O'Donnell and Melissa Etheridge will reproduce. Yikes! One question, don't the Hollywood worshipers already go gaga over synthetic lovers? Half of the faces and more than half of the bosoms out there are synthetic, are they not?
