Blog Entry 39 of 81 Baseball, football, the Grateful Dead,Jesus and me
Could be politics, religion, music, sports, family life or anything in-between and outside the lines. (I refuse to say "outside the box," even if my chosen line means exactly the same thing) Chronologically, I'm 40. The consensus among those who know me best puts me somewhere between 10 and 13 in terms of maturity. I love listening to Jimmy Buffett, the Grateful Dead, the Allman Brothers and all acts Country (except the Dixie Chicks who offended my long-held,closed-minded view of decent behavior) I have deep, strong beliefs in all things I believe in and sometimes in things I don't. I pride myself in my contradictory nature even though it is a sign of weakness to change one's mind. I have been known to waver more than John Kerry talking about national defense, though I remain steadfast in my beliefs. I am prepared to argue to the death on one issue and one issue alone; Dickey Betts should be allowed back in the Allman Brothers. On this, there is no compromise. I believe in compromise in all other areas so long as the compromise includes everything that I want or believe in. In all seriousness, I am a lucky man, blessed with a wonderful family and an uncanny ability to not care about anything if the situation requires such. I believe that minds are like parachutes in that they have been known to fail their user, albeit with a slightly lower fatality rate. So that's me, or at least that's kind of me. I mean, I felt that way right before I didn't.

Liberals hate puppies
Contributed by: Bill Prather   on 9/23/2007

It's true! Liberals hate puppies! I'm the last person to generalize but the evidence speaks for itself. MoveOn.org, the leftist, military-hating organization for certifiable crazy people bought an ad in the New York Times referring to Gen. David Petreus as "Gen. Betray-Us."

Forget for a moment that the Times illegally gave a discount to the "Let's Get American Soldiers Killed!" crowd and focus on the deeper, more sinister issue.

General "Betray-Us?"One would think that with 99 percent of the "arts" crowd on their side, the foolish political left could have come up with something better. Maybe they were busy asking Dad for more money. Or perhaps they weren't up to the challenge. A real, American thing to do would have been to bring up a true dissenting opinion. Ahh, but that would have required real thought. Not something the left is known for. Anger, yes. Hateful speech, check. Disingenuous rants, absolutely! Intelligent debate? I refer you to the above "ad." Nothing intelligent about it. Of course, preaching to the liberal choir kind of restricts the amount of intellect one can include.

I learned about General Petreus long before the successful "surge" and I know him to be an effective, even great, leader of Soldiers. Additionally, Gen. Petreus loves puppies. Therefore, to take a page from the lefty book, anyone who questions Gen. Petreus, also questions a love of puppies. Thus, liberals hate puppies! It's simple, liberal math. Two plus two equals "I hate Bush!" Three plus three equals, "I hate Bush!" Everything equals, "I hate Bush." And we can't forget, "He's stupid!"

I always knew I disagreed with liberals. But this new hatred they're showing toward puppies really has me wondering.

Thanks, Gladys. It isn't possible to disqualify yourself. Even with the gratuitous "crab cakes" line! Soon as I get my next order of crabs, your cakes are on the way!!!

I am one of those liberals and I did not like the ad referring to Gen Petreus. I do not like all of the anger and hate in politics now. I love puppies, kittens and crab cakes. Hope I haven't disqualified myself.
