This article really struck a nerve with me today!I didn't vote for Bush, but I'm not a Bush basher either.I'm willing to support our President, however, when I read things like this it makes me really think about who he is and what he represents. The article says,
"Earlier today, the president campaigned for a Republican congressman in Arizona, saying that Democrats can't be trusted to protect the nation from terrorist attacks. "Vote Republican for the safety of the United States," he said."To me, this is an alienating statement to rest of the "American People" (as he calls them) that are not Republican, but voted for him because they thought he was the best person. He's blatantly steam rolling over the rest of us not affiliated with the Republic Party and accusing of us not being responsible enough to vote people into office that will represent our country as a democracy and not a world dictatorship.I could be wrong, but it seems that most of our peacetime has been under a democratic president.I also believe there to be a stigma surrounding the Republican Party presently.People aren't happy with the foreign war efforts, the Hurricane Katrina tragedy on our own soil, the list is endless. Are we safe now?I don't really know a thing about politics, as I go with my gut instincts, but I can tell you now more than ever it's a sad day/time for the Republican Party.
