Musings and Misc nonsense
I just finished up my degree in Business/Marketing (big smile), February 2008. I know I'll need to replace all the great discussions from classes and hope to do that here.. and the occasional rant. Personally, I have a first new grandchild, one 19 yr old left at home... and enjoy online card games.. poker, spades, hearts, euchre.. Oh yeah, I live in Arvada.

I've been part of a virtual reality world called Second LIfe for some time. Over two years, in fact. It's really fascinating ... at first. And even now, I'm amazed at the player-created stuff you can get.
People have developed things that really are amazing ... the beautiful gardens, shops, virtual ballet productions ... it can be amazing. I find it a great adventure in finding cultural things and music. But I'm in the minority.
And then, you realize that some are there for meeting people, to meet a new "partner." Yes, s*x is there. There is plenty of it if you're looking.
I actually did meet someone there a few years ago, and we got together, *what we call RL (real life). Isn't it funny we have to say in RL (real life) or SL (Second Life) in the game?
I guess I'm feeling a little skeptical tonight, after meeting a really neat guy (I thought) and trying to get to know him. I'll just say, I think you can get to know someone very well even in a virtual reality because of what they "say." This guy had made a comment ... *most women don't know what they want in SL (Second Life)*. Hah!
I asked what he wanted ... "I'm still figuring that out," he says. I had to go ... go here, actually, lol. Then I said ... my goodbye is ... I hope you figure out what you want as a 54-year-old man.
I'm not really sure what my point is, except that ... a virtual reality doesn't replace real life! Some seem to think there is more to offer in virtual space. There can be a lot to offer, but ... real life is best.
You see, virtual realities/twitters/Myspace/Facebooks, etc., are getting to be the trend ... seems like a good way to waste a lot of time. I don't find Second Life a waste of time. I find many things I enjoy about it. But ... some things in cyber space ... really are a waste of good brain cells.

It's interesting to learn about Second Life from you. I've heard people talk about it, but I haven't taken the time to find out what it's all about.
