Blog Action Day (BAD)

I just learned that today is "Blog Action Day,"where all the bloggers in the world are asked to opine on a single issue...the issue today is climate change and the blog I read extolled the virtues of using a cloths line instead of a dryer for our cloths and took a poke at subdivision rules as the culprit of this travesty. You can read it for yourself by going to http://championofmyheart.com/2009/10/15/blog-action-day-2009.aspx. For the record, this author is not asking that HOA's or their covenants bee outlawed (although some should be) but rather that covenants prohibiting the use of cloths lines is dumb and should be discontinued. On that I agree. I grew up with cloths lines and still recall the smell of air-dried sheets. The dryer came long, I suppose, because it is faster and our busy lives demanded it. Let me say that another way, it was us, we who demanded the dryer. General Electric or Maytag would not build something unless they could sell it for a profit. So they make'm. We buy'm. We get pretty much what we demand. I'm pretty sure my comments are not what the organizers were thinking about when they concocted this "Blog Action Day," but what the hey. It is what it is.
