They (I always wonder who they are) say the world would stop without deadlines. I don't know about that, but I do know that I respond to deadlines.

So far the "Ask the Dog Guy" blog/column was published whenever I got an interesting letter or more recently, whenever I got the notion and had something I thought was interesting to say.

Some of that will not change. It will still be my decision as to the topic and It will still be me who decides if something is interesting or not. Of course, I will still encourage letters and the best of them will find their way to the blog/column.

However there will be more regularity to the postings. A new post will appear on Monday from now on. In a former life I used to write a 12 page newspaper all by myself every week.... And I never started writing until the day before it went to bed (to the printer). And, I did it on an old Royal manual typewriter! The typesetter in those days there was a person who would set the type before it was pasted up, which I also did) was always mad at me as she also served as the editor and the proofreader. So, from now on there will be a deadline of Sunday midnight for a post. You can be sure that I'll push that deadline too. But you can expect a new post each and every Monday. And if I get the notion and energy there may be posts in between Mondays. So bottom line is you will get a fresh post at least every Monday and maybe more often. For me the specter of a Sunday deadline will serve to make me more observant of behavior issues or topics to write about. I've finished a book on canine intelligence, which I promised a book review on a while back. Something tells me that will be this Monday's post.
