On Saturday, October 11, 2008, fire fighters and police officers from the Denver-metro area will come together for a unique, one-day event "Fight with Fire - Fight for a Cure" that honors those impacted by breast cancer. This event is free and open to the general public. Donations will be accepted for two Colorado organizations: Diana Price-Fish Cancer Foundation and Breast Cancer Network of Strength.

"While police and fire fighters are often thought of as community heroes, this event gives us the opportunity to show our strength and support for people who inspire us," said Wendy Forbes, Public Information Officer for North Metro Fire Rescue. "In our minds, these are the real heroes in our communities-people fighting and surviving the battle against breast cancer."

The event will have a number of activities for adults and children to enjoy. In addition, to the main stage featuring speakers and testimonials from members of the Breast Cancer community, there will also be three musical concerts provided by Circle of Willis and the Maynard Mills Blues Band.

People attending "Fight with Fire-Fight for a Cure" will have a rare opportunity to see fire and police professionals present incredible demonstrations in a safe and up-close setting, including:

· Vehicle extrication demonstration

· Flight for Life Helicopter (landing & tours)

· Multiple, live-fire demonstrations

· SWAT demonstration

Citizens can also tour and touch various emergency service vehicles at their own pace by visiting the "Muster" area of the event. Finally, this event is proud to feature the Pink Ribbon Tour. This cross-country, traveling breast cancer awareness campaign consists of fire fighters, their pink fire truck and a 10' ribbon. Breast Cancer survivors and those who are continue to battle this disease are encouraged to come out and sign this truck as a national statement about the impacts of this disease.

Finally, food vendors will be on-site, donating a portion of their proceeds to the Diana Price-Fish Cancer Foundation and the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Breast Cancer Network of Strength.

The Fight with Fire-Fight for a Cure event will be held on Saturday, October 11 from 11 am until 5 pm. The event is located at the North Metro Fire Rescue District Training Center at 1006 Weld County Road 11, Erie, CO 80516. Parking is available at the site; however some walking will be required throughout the event.
