Cheryl Ternes has been named the deputy director
of the Human Services Department of Jefferson County.
In her new role as deputy director, which was effective March
1, she will oversee the operations of the Business Office and
Community Assistance Divisions and administer the financial
functions of the Community Assistance and Children, Youth and
Families Divisions. In the role of Deputy Director of Human
Services, Ternes will help to identify short and long-term
strategic direction, carry out special projects and act as the
Department Director in
Sherri Almond's absence.
Ternes has been the director of the Community Assistance
Division since 2004. She joined the county in 1984 and has been in
a variety of positions within the Human Services Department over
the years.
Ternes holds a bachelor's degree from the Metropolitan State
College of Denver and is currently completing her master's degree
from the University of Colorado at Denver in the Public
Administration Executive Program.
