People who inspired you (and how): My father, Eddy Smith, has been my inspiration. Growing up I tagged along with him as he volunteered his time to the American Legion. I never thought about how he was influencing my values until he died almost three years ago. After his death, my father was honored by the American Legion by having a memorial "Extraordinary Service Award" established in his name for his over 50 years of dedication and service to the veterans of the American Legion. People always asked me why I do so much for the community and I could never answer the question. When my father passed away, I realized it was because of what he taught me.

How you have contributed to the community: Served on the Douglas County Board of Education, served 8 years on the Board of Directors for the Highlands Ranch Metro Districts, served 9 Years on the Douglas County Planning Commission, served on the Board of Directors of the Douglas County Housing Partnership, served on the Douglas County Open Space Advisory Committee, volunteer in my children's schools, and served as assistant District Captain with the Douglas County Republican Party
