The Bellco Credit Union Denver St. Patrick's Day Parade Crowns Queen Colleen
2007
The Denver St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee held its annual Coronation
Ball on Saturday, February 17 in Denver and Sara Myers was crowned Queen
Colleen 2007 for the 45th annual Parade. Decks and Stuff sponsored her.
Sara Myers, age 21 from Aurora, is a student at the University of Northern
Colorado where she is studying secondary English education with a minor in
teaching English as a second language and in music. She speaks Spanish,
Japanese and is working on Czech, Irish, and Sign Language. Her goal is to
teach English in high school but is also interested in traveling around the
world and someday opening a restaurant. She currently works in the
University Center Kitchen at UNC.
Sara's volunteer activities include Northern Colorado Medical Centre Blood
Drives, Susan G. Komen Foundation, Supporters of North Ridge High School,
The Crucible, the 30-hour fast, and America's Second Harvest. She believes
that participating in the Queen Colleen contest will help her have a larger
impact in the community.
She played hurling with the Denver Gaels during the summer league. Her
other interests include reading, drawing, writing, running, singing, and
languages.
"I am extremely proud of my Irish heritage and being given the honor to
represent the Bellco Credit Union Denver St. Patrick's Day Parade as this
year's Queen Colleen is simply a dream come true," said Ms. Myers. She will
reign as Queen Colleen for one year and will represent the Parade Committee
at many community events. Ms. Myers and her court of 15 ladies will ride in
the Bellco Credit Union Denver St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday, March
17 in lower downtown Denver.
