To refer to
Katherine Lester, of Arvada, as a jack-of-all-trades would certainly be an understatement.
The 2008 University of Colorado Denver graduate is a certified yoga instructor, a scuba-diver, a maker of fine jewelry and, in the summertime, a rock climbing and backpacking instructor.
"I'm taking night classes at Naropa University in Boulder," said the masters of psychology student.
Lester, originally from Lake Worth, Flor., is currently employed by the Pepsi Center as a server and also works as a cocktail waitress at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver.
"I also sell jewelry that I make here at my house," she said while putting together a necklace made of a variety of materials -- some including bone.
"I think it's cow bone but I'm not sure," said the Arvada resident of three years.
When Lester isn't hiking a mountain, instructing a class or immersing herself in either a
Bob Marley disc or a large psychology school book, she's also a world traveler. Her international endeavors have taken her to London, Croatia and Cologne, Germany just to name a few places.
"My goal is to go out of the country once a year," she said. "But that's only if I can afford it. I try to travel as much as possible."
According to Lester, one of her favorite places to visit in Colorado is Red Rocks Amphitheater in Golden, the venue that employs her as a beer vendor from May to September annually.
"I'll be there again this summer," she said. "I choose to work jobs and do things that I love. I'm definitely driven to do well."
Next, Lester will be traveling with her boyfriend,
Ron, to "some exotic island," maybe Cozumel, Mexico, for a scuba-diving excursion.
