Backward no-parking signs?

I live on 70th Avenue and Jay Street. The city of Arvada put up no-parking signs up and down the street, dug a big hole and filled it up, now they have turned all the no-parking signs backward, facing the houses. I have one right in front and no one knows whether to stop at my house or not! They have been here for over a week now.

What is going on??

Dear Gladys,

You can tell your visitors that they are safe from finding tickets on their cars if they park in front of your home. According to Edward Stafford, traffic engineer for the city of Arvada, it is legal to park on the street as long as the no-parking signs are turned away from the street.

Yeah Stan, but what are the signs even there for? No one is doing any work on the street even though there are big yellow signs saying "work "ahead.

Hey, Gladys, maybe if the signs are backwards they want you to park backwards. It could be part of a city program to make parking and driving more interesting and challenging. I remember parking at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs and there were signs nearby that said "Temporary Employee Parking - 5 Minutes only" They must have a high turnover rate if they only give their temporary employees five minutes to park.
