Vampires unearthed in the book 'Twilight'
Contributed by: Kimberly Figliolino on 2/16/2008

Twilight by novelist Stephenie Meyer is riveting! The superb writing draws readers into the life of Bella, a teenage girl whose parents are divorced and live in different states. When Bella's mother remarries, Bella decides to live with her father Charlie, in Forks, Washington.

The angst of having to live in a small town where the weather is dark and gloomy most of the time from torrential rainstorms, and gossip that had spread like wildfire that marked her impending arrival, were daunting. Hoping to just blend in at school, she stood out like a sore thumb. Students approached calling out her name and introduced themselves.

In the cafeteria some new friends sat with Bella chatting up a storm. She pretended to be interested in the conversation as her eyes casually scanned the room. That 's when she glanced at Edward Cullen and his siblings. Each of them were breathtakingly beautiful and the boys looked as if they'd been chiseled from white marble. Edward's dark eyes locked with Bella's and she quickly looked away.

Intrigued and curious about Edward, Bella is determined to find out more about him. Edward has dark secrets of his own that he has guarded with his life. He keeps telling Bella to stay away from him and that he isn't any good for her, but she is still drawn to him and disregards his warnings. Will Bella be able to accept the truth, that Edward is a vampire? Or will she be repelled by his admission and run from him?

This book has compelling characters, complex scenarios, and adrenalin-pumping situations! It is a young adult fiction novel and I'd recommend it for teenagers 13 and up. Adults will enjoy this book too! The letter grade is an A!
