ebay Selects local Arvada Resident Terry Gehrke as "Instructor of the Month"

Terry Gehrke of Arvada, CO has been selected by ebay University as Instructor of the Month!
"This is a real privilege," says Terry "In fact this honor has gone to only a few of the over 3,500 Education Specialist around the world trained by ebay". Terry Gehrke has been teaching ebay classes for the past 3 years at the Community College of Denver, and at select Libraries around the Arvada and Denver Metro area. He teaches both beginner and advanced classes on ebay, and is also the only Certified ebay Business Consultant in the Rocky Mountain area. As an ebay Power Seller himself he has learned what is required to make money on ebay. He has taught hundreds of people How to sell on ebay and says "My greatest satisfaction comes from seeing others apply what they learn, and become successful at selling on ebay them self".

Here is his story in his own words.

You can do this!" I told myself as I read the information about becoming an Education Specialist. "After all, "You already know how to teach" I said, I just need more experience about how ebay works.

"I had been an underwater SCUBA Instructor for over 15 years, and have been teaching corporate clients how to use computer software for the past 10 years. So my experience at helping others learn difficult and challenging skills was very strong. The problem was my ebay experience was not as strong. I had just started selling on ebay a few months earlier (July 2004), and I was still learning myself. Well if I'm going to teach others how to be successful at ebay I better learn how to do it myself! That's when I decided to become a Power Seller. "You can do this!" I told myself as I read the information about becoming a Power Seller. Three months latter I received the notice from ebay that I was now a Power Seller.

"Now, I know what you're asking yourself, how did you do it? Well over the past 30 years I have started or been involved with several business, some successful and some not. I learned several very important rules to starting and managing a business. One of the basics is, "treat it like a hobby, it stays a hobby. Treat it like a business, it becomes a business".

"After Completing the Education Specialist exam online I started scheduling class's like crazy. I started doing one-on one training, then group classes and even a large hotel seminar. I contacted the local colleges and libraries and was able to form some great working relationships that continue even till today. I was not going to treat this like a hobby either! And the results have been great.

"Then a few months ago I was heard saying to myself. "You can do this!" as I read the information about becoming a Certified Business Consultant. Well this course was not as easy as I thought it would be, and with good reason, after all I'm now going to be working with Business owners and corporate professionals who will be throwing "HARDBALL questions and scenarios at me about ebay and I better have the right answers, and know the proper solutions to the third party applications they might need. So three attempts latter at trying to pass the exam (90% is tough!) I received the notice from Power U that I was now a Certified Business Consultant. I'm now building the corporate side of my training and working with the Denver Chamber of Commerce to provide consulting and training to local companies wanting to capitalize on the huge ebay market. It has been a FUN ride!
