ARVADA, Colo. -
March 6, 2008- When you enter Ace Hardware of Arvada you will notice an unusual new marking on the shelves in front of many products. Many of the shelf tags have a little full color American Flag over a map of the United States on them. They are replacing the standard shelf tags and are used to designate American made products.
"We have had many of our customers voicing concern about some of the problems with imported products and the fact that so many American jobs are being lost to other countries. Our customers in some cases will not purchase anything if it is not made in the United States," said Linda Lorenz co-owner. "When we first decided to open an Ace Hardware we were trying to find a way to identify domestic products and were not successful until recently," she said.
When standing in front of items in the store a customer can see if an item is American made and if so can make an informed decision as to whether they would buy it or another like product that may be imported.
"We have always made an effort to buy as many American made products as possible and we now are investing a lot of energy and time in making these products easy for our customers to identify," said Lorenz. "Our team is actually reading every label in the store to determine where it is made and then we produce a special shelf tag for the U.S. made products. We are amazed at how many products we carry that are made in this country. Our employees are very proud to be part of this effort and are pointing out the work they are doing to our customers."
"We have completed about fifty percent of the first pass on the store and once finished we will continue to evaluate every product both new and existing to make sure we keep up on any changes," said Lorenz.
