The Alpine Chorale's annual spring concert heralds "Celtic Voices"

Denver's 50-voice Alpine Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Lee Egbert, presents its annual spring concert "Celtic Voices," in two performances, April 4 and April 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Lakewood Cultural Center, 470 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood. Tickets are $12.00; $10.00 for students and senior citizens.

The first half of the program features works and styles of Celtic music history including
I Love My Love, a Cornish folksong;
Before the Sun Goes Down, based on a poem by Edith Tillotson;
Highland Mary, a Robert Burns ballad; and the hauntingly beautiful
Danny Boy, based on the tune
Londonderry Air.
The Alpine Chorale alsopremieres the Western performance of Irish composer Mary McAuliffe's
An American Odyssey, a choral tribute to America. Ms. McAuliffe will present a special talk before the performance.
About Dr. Lee Egbert: He has been Music Director for The Alpine Chorale since its founding in 1998. He is the former Director of Choral Studies at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. He earned his DMA in Choral Conducting and Musicology at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. He has been guest conductor of major choral works with numerous symphonies in the United States, Mexico and Argentina. His choirs have toured North America and Europe, he has twice guest conducted at Carnegie Hall in New York City, and he is a longtime member of the American Choral Directors Association.
About The Alpine Chorale: Thisconcert is the second inthe Alpine Chorale's 10th season (2007 - 2008). The chorale is a 50-voice civic chorale that performs annually along Colorado's Front Range and is considered one of the region's top chorale groups. The Alpine Chorale is a member of the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District.
