Lakewood High School marched in the Disneyland Parade over Spring Break and even Mickey Mouse himself seemed to be impressed. The band, under the direction of Lakewood High's Mr. Doug Harris, lead the parade on Wednesday, March 26th down Main Street in Disneyland. The band also experienced a movie recording session in a Disney studio and played an extra concert in the Carnation Pavilion, next to the Magic Castle. Two days before the Disneyland experience, the band entertained passersby on beautiful Catalina Island, one hour west of Los Angeles. Between rehearsals and performances, the students were able to do a bit of vacationing at the beach, Universal Studios and a fun night at Medieval Times. Other than a few sunburns and exhausted chaperones, a good time was had by all. Mr. Harris is retiring at the end of this school year, and many were heard to say that he will really be missed.
