Arvada Rotary Club installs new officers
Contributed by: Dan Hershberger on 7/11/2006

The Arvada Rotary Club, at its June 28th meeting at The Old Neighborhood Restaurant, installed the new officers for the fiscal year of July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2007.

President Dennis Schwab handed the gavel over to new President Jerry Jelinek, who then installed his officers for the year. Those incoming for 2006-2007 are Schwab, Treasurer, Nancy Rudzek, Secretary, and Dan Hershberger as President-elect. Bill Ross was installed as Club Service Director, Cindy Connolly as Community Service Director, Kathy Starostka as International Service Director, and Mike McHugh as Vocational Service Director.

Under Schwab's presidency, Arvada Rotary won the Rotary District 5450's Preserve Planet Earth Award for its Flower Power program in conjunction with The Colorado Garden & Home Show and The President's Award for the club's increase in membership last year. Also, ten Arvada area students were able to receive scholarships under Arvada Rotary's Al Kilpatrick and Harold R. Carver Memorial scholarship programs.

Rex Stuck
was awarded Rotarian of the Year for his dedication and service to all of the club's fundraisers and community projects. Arch Weaver recieved the Herb Johnson Award for his work on the Peach Sale, Colorado Garden & Home Show, and his consistent service throughout the years to The Arvada Rotary Club.

Jelinek's presidency promises to be just as dynamic, with goals set for furthering education through scholarships, community projects in literacy, international water projects, health and hunger aid, and new membership.
