The Arvada Rotary Club is having its 10th annual Peach Sale on Saturday, Aug. 12, at The Arvada United Methodist Church parking lot at 68th Avenue and Carr Street between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. These peaches are from Palisade, Colo., and they are juicy, fresh and delicious Western Slope tree-ripened peaches. One 10 lb. box of peaches will sell for $17.
As in years past, The Arvada Rotary Club members will be pre-selling the peaches beginning the last week in June. Each pre-sell customer will receive a receipt for pick up on Aug. 12. Those peaches not picked up or sold will be donated to the Arvada Food Bank. Additional boxes will be available on the day of sale, but get there early because quantities are limited.
The proceeds from this fundraiser will go to the many projects that The Arvada Rotary Club supports throughout the year. These include Read to Me literacy programs in three elementary schools, The Wildcat Program for Foster elementary in which underprivileged children are taken on various field trips to places like museums, skiing and outdoor adventures that they would not otherwise have access to, AWRSAY (Arvada-Wheat Ridge Service Ambassadors for Youth), which awards scholarships to students who have overcome difficulties in their lives and deserve a chance to continue their education.
