The Arvada Rotary Club's
7th Annual Duck Derby
in conjunction with the
Arvada Harvest Festival
will be on Saturday, September 9. This year there will be more than $5000 in prizes for those holding winning tickets. Some of the prizes include $1000 in cash, 7days/6 nights in a Steamboat Springs condo donated by
Joe DiVito, ReMax Alliance
, 7 days/6 nights at a Keystone condo donated by
Mike McHugh, New West Environment
, Professional teeth whitening treatments from
Arvada Dental
, $250.00 cash, and Pizza for 1 year at
Old Chicago
. There are many more great prizes including gift certificates and merchandise.
Several merchants in Olde Town have Duck Adoptions for sale for $5.00. You can also adopt 6 ducks for $25.00. Adoptions can be bought at Roffler's Salon at 8295 Ralston Rd., The Arvada Army Navy Surplus Store at 5701 Olde Wadsworth, Roadies Harley Davidson Specialists at 5675 Olde Wadsworth Blvd., Twin Peaks Leather at 5655 Olde Wadsworth, The Egg Shell at Ralston Rd. & Olde Wadsworth and La Dolce Vita Coffee Shopat 5756 Olde Wadsworth. Adoptions can also be purchased from any Arvada Rotary Club member, or by calling Duck Central at 303-425-7477.
The Race Day Activities will begin at 12:00 noon, immediately after the Arvada Harvest Festival parade. They will take place behind the Pavillion at 58th and Garrison St. There will be entertainment by the band "Bustable" from noon 'til 2 p.m.The Duck Derby will begin at 1:00pm on Ralston Creek at the same location.
This is not only a fun activity and a chance to win prizes, but also an opportunity to support many projects in the Arvada Community. Among those who benefit are theMajestic View Nature Center, Read to Me Literacy Program, Arvada-Wheat Ridge Service Ambassadors for Youth, The Wildcat Program for Foster Elementary, Arvada Center for the Arts & Humanities and the Carver and Kilpatrick Scholarship programs for Arvada area students.
