Lonely Star
Contributed by: David Grigorian on 9/16/2007

I'm all alone like a shining star above,
An abandoned cactus below,
A forgotten eagle in the sky,
Why am I here?

I scream, but no one hears,
I struggle, but no one sees,
I reach out, but can't find,
I endure the darkness alone,
Fighting the battle in solitude,
How can I go on?

I have towering mountains to climb,
Hostile oceans to swim,
Cover vast expanses of cold spaces,
Raging battles to win,
What purpose do I carry?

I don't recognize this place and time,
Unfamiliar intelligent life forms surround me,
Can they see me, hear me, or feel my presence,
I'm a stranger on the planet dear to me,
Where am I?

I'm tired, worn out, and beaten,
Like a house after the storm,
Like a melting Iceberg,
Like a cactus enduring without water for too long,
When will I know the answers?

A long lonely road ahead of me,
I'm a fading star,
A thirsty cactus,
An isolated eagle,
A sorrowful wind is singing a lonely tune,
Who am I?
