Fading Memories
Contributed by: David Grigorian on 2/9/2008

As days go by,
It's harder to grasp my memories of you,
Deeper in the fog they hide,
Melting away like ice,
Vanishing like smoke in the thin air.

Was it only yesterday?
That I held your soft hand tightly,
Listened to you giggle,
Watched your caring intelligent eyes sparkle,
You loved me.

Or was it last week?
Memories escape me mercilessly,
Fading like the autumn leaves on the branches,
Like the setting sun on the horizon,
I revealed my love for you.

My aching heart longs for your touch,
My mind thirsts to hear your voice,
My soul cries to hold you,
I long to hear you say,
That you love me.

The things I would give,
To hold you tightly in my arms again,
I give my dreams, and pleasures,
I surrender my life for you,
To care for you,
Be in love with you unconditionally.

I kneel and hug your tombstone,
You abandoned my life and this world,
Forgive me for failing to protect you from the hostile life,
I grieve for the child we will never have,
I weep for never growing old with you.

My heavy heart snapped suddenly,
I drop to the ground cold,
To be with my soul mate,
To be loved and to love,
My life had faded,
Like the memories of you.
