The Red Rocks Community College chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society of two-year colleges, has welcomed sixty-one new members this semester.

In 2007, Alpha Kappa Sigma, was recognized as one of the society's top 25 chapters internationally. Also in 2007, the chapter received the Most Distinguished Chapter recognition out of 23 chapters in the state of Colorado and earned Five Star chapter status for the 10th consecutive year. The RRCC chapter is committed to the International Service Program: Keep America Beautiful as well as continuing the Fight Against Cancer. Activities have included Relay for Life and Race for the Cure.
The Chapter's "service to the college projects" include participating in a Student Ambassador program and coordinating an annual children's Halloween event. Chapter activities also focus on the Honors study topic, "Gold, Gods and Glory: the Global Dynamics of Power."
Membership into Phi Theta Kappa is by invitation, extended only to students who meet eligibility requirements. The organization is comprised of more than 1,200 chapters at community, technical and junior colleges in all 50 states, Canada, Germany, Japan and U.S. Territories abroad.
