Each year the Arvada Rotary Club raises a significant amount of money that is awarded to deserving graduating seniors at Arvada high schools as scholarships to continue their education at any two or four year academic college or university, or in the case of vocational awards, an accredited vocational or technical school or college.
The Harold R. Carver Memorial academic scholarship is awarded in the amount of $2,000 and the Alexander J. Kilpatrick vocational scholarship is awarded in the amount of $1,000.
In the past, the Arvada Rotary Club has typically awarded between three and six academic scholarships and between one and five vocational scholarships each year depending on the success of our fund-raising and the quality of the candidates.
The applicant must be a graduating senior from Arvada, Arvada West, Pomona, Ralston Valley or Warren Technical High schools. She or he must be in good academic standing, possess a good moral character, and have demonstrated a commitment to service in their school and community. Applicants will be interviewed by a committee of Arvada Rotarians and the recipients are selected on the basis of the information provided in their application and the strength of the interview. Interviews are typically conducted in late April or early May.
All application packets must be postmarked or hand-delivered by April 12, 2008. Please send completed packets to Arvada Rotary Scholarships, c/o Michael F. McHugh, 12658 W. 62nd Ave., Arvada, Co 80004.
For additional information call

, Vocational Director, Arvada Rotary Club at 303-739-7006 or 720-381-8866.
