Rep. Ed Perlmutter endorses Bane for commissioner

Representative Ed Perlmutter, the popular Jefferson County congressman and former state senator from Wheat Ridge, has endorsed Jason Bane for the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners (District 2).

"Jason Bane and his family have deep roots here in Jefferson County," said Perlmutter. "I believe Jason will serve residents well with his intelligence, passion, and commitment to the things that are important to us in Jefferson County, like responsible government, open space, and conservation."

Congressman Perlmutter represents Congressional District 7, which encompasses the majority of Jefferson County, including Lakewood, Golden, Wheat Ridge and Arvada. His endorsement comes just weeks after Bane was formally backed by the Arvada Police Officers' Association.

"Ed Perlmutter has worked tirelessly for Jefferson County for many years, and I am proud to have his support," said Bane. "I look forward to working with him to continue to improve our county while maintaining the quality of life that makes Jeffco such a beautiful place to live."

Bane is a third-generation resident of Jefferson County who is running for one of two county-wide seats that are up for re-election in 2008. An award-winning journalist and community activist, Bane currently serves on the board of the Jefferson County PTA. Jason and his wife, Julie - who grew up in Arvada and graduated from Arvada West High School - have a two-year-old daughter named Stella and are expecting their second child in late September.

"It's certainly going to be a busy year," laughs Bane.

Voters in Jefferson County will elect two County Commissioners in 2008, one from District 1 and one from District 2. Both Commissioners are elected by a county-wide vote.
