The Jefferson Foundation adds members of Big Head Todd and the Monsters to Crystal Ball honorees
September 27, 2007, Lakewood, CO - The Jefferson Foundation will be acknowledging
Big Head Todd and the Monsters as the 2007 Distinguished Jeffco Alumni at the 22nd Annual Crystal Ball Gala "Hats Off to You!" on November 10th at the Grand Hyatt Denver, 1750 Welton.
Graduates of Columbine High School,
Todd Park Mohr, (1984),
Rob Squires (1983) and
Brian Nevin (1984), formed the rock band, Big Head Todd and the Monsters in 1986. Few performers have shown the versatility and incorporated the broad spectrum of contemporary music as these nationally-recognized recording artists have.
For the past 20 years, the Monsters have maintained a place in the hearts of their Colorado fans. And, they continually show gratitude and a connection to their fanbase, by performing concerts to benefit local charities, such as the recent Red Rocks benefit for Children's Hospital's Autism Program.
"The Jefferson Foundation established the Distinguished Alumni Awards to acknowledge the impact Jeffco Public Schools has had in creating heroes," said Mona Sandoval, Executive Director. "We have recognized a philanthropist, a media personality, and an astronaut. This Crystal Ball we will be able to not only recognize Todd, Rob and Brian as talented musicians, but also for raising charitable dollars for our community."
Big Head Todd and the Monsters will join the 2007 Crystal Ball's honorees, which will include
Jeffco Open Space to be presented with the Crystal Globe for Distinguished Service Award, and former legislator,
Norma Anderson, who will be present to receive a special Lifetime Service Award.
Tickets for the gala are available for $125 per guest and may be purchased online at www.jeffersonfoundation.org or by calling 303-982-2210. The Jefferson Foundation funds projects for the students of Jeffco Public Schools.
