Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA), in conjunction with the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, presented its annual CD of holiday cheer,
Broadway's Greatest Gifts: Carols for a Cure, Volume 9, in which the Broadway community comes together to raise money for the fight against AIDS.During the Arvada Center's productions of
La Cage aux Folles and
Plaid Tidings, from November 13 - December 23, 2007, fundraiser raised an outstanding $41,159.44 for this great cause.
2007 was the fifth year the Arvada Center has sold the CDs, and our efforts gave the national campaign a tremendous boost, as sales in New York were down due to the labor union strikes. This year's sales came in just behind 2004's record-setting
The 1940's Radio Hour, which raised $42,727.
The festive double-CD set offered unique versions of traditional and original holiday songs created especially for this recording, featuring performances by stars and casts from
The Little Mermaid, Monty Python's Spamalot,
Hairspray,Spring Awakening, Altar Boyz, Wicked, Legally Blonde, Curtains and
A Chorus Line, plus many more!
The Arvada Center is one of the select few venues throughout the U.S. that sells the CDs each holiday season, along with the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC and Strathmore Hall in Bethesda, MD. For more information, visit
