In 2002 Kids' Pages Cares was formed to help local disadvantaged and neglected children living in the north and west suburbs. Since then, Kids' Pages Cares has given more than 1 MILLION Dollars worth of support to more than 10,000 local disadvantaged and neglected children and their families.
Children and families from all walks of life have been the recipients of brand-new clothing, shoes, household items, personal care items, scholarships, healthcare, dental care, eye exams, glasses and so much more. Kids' Pages Cares provides these families and children, "a hand-up, not a hand-out." Some of the children who have been helped recently by Kids' Pages Cares:
- When 12 year-old Emily's mom died (her dad had died a few years ago), she moved in with her aunt, who has a very limited income. She was outgrowing her clothing, and did not have any money for notebooks, pens/pencils and other school supplies, Kids' Pages Cares supplied Emily with school clothes, school supplies and holiday gifts.
- "Sebastian," an 18 year-old unaccompanied youth (a minor not in the physical custody of a parent or guardian), is a typical high school kid - he plays football and studies hard. However, he is not typical in that both his parents left home - including a bipolar mother who left when he was very young. He currently lives with a family of a fellow student, but they were unable to pay the extra costs for his clothing, meals and school activities. Kids' Pages Cares provided him with clothes, school supplies, grocery gift cards and restaurant vouchers. We also gave him a gift card to purchase an outfit for the homecoming dance at school.
- Phillip's parents are self employed as a barber and childcare worker, and struggle to have enough for their five children. Phillip had a wide gap in the front of his mouth and his two front teeth protruded outward, but Medicaid would not pay to fix the problem. Kids' Pages Cares provided full braces for him and he is now looking forward to a beautiful smile.
- When "Mark," a single dad, was injured and out of work with a back injury requiring surgery, he struggled to help his four children get what they needed. The children were also struggling to read and see clearly, and Mark felt extremely helpless to meet their needs. Kids' Pages Cares provided the children with eye exams and glasses, and new clothing.
