Hot times at Arvada's 4th of July
Contributed by: Nancy Bentzen on 7/5/2008

Another great City of Arvada and Festivals Commission event on July 4 th ended the with a spectacular fireworks display. Patriotic celebrants braved the hot weather to enjoy music provided by KOOL105 radio, have fun in the Kid's Park organized by Apex Park and Recreation, browse the "Hot Times, Kool Cars" mini classic car show, and stop by the several community booths and concessions. Fire Department and Military displays, impromptu juggling demonstrations, playing Guitar Hero (provided by Play n' Trade Video), and liberty crowns from Liberty Tax Service add to the festive atmosphere of this FREE community event.

There were steady lines to get face painting, balloon creations, and make a craft at the booths provided by Vineyard Community Church. New additions of the Giant Inflatable Fireman and the Fireman's Obstacle Course were popular with the young people. After finishing the obstacle course and getting his fireman hat, one young boy proudly proclaimed to me "I'm a Fireman now!".

A huge thank you to all the City of Arvada employees from the Parks Department, the Police Department, Arvada Center Banquet Services, and all the volunteers from the Fire Department, Apex Center and various community organizations who work many hours to provide this fun, patriotic celebration of our nation's birthday. And thank you to all the citizens who attended and appreciated the festival - you make our day!
