A CHOCOLATE AFFAIR
Historic Olde Town Arvada will celebrate sentimentality and patriotism during the 2007 woo-fest called A Chocolate Affair, Saturday, February 10. This pre-Valentines Day festivity embraces the work of Homefront Heroes, the nonprofit that supports American soldiers and their families in a multiplicity of ways.
Celebrants will "feel the love" as they enjoy the sweetness of the romantic season by carriage. Olde Town Arvada lampposts will bear large hearts, on which suitors and other lovers declare their affection. From 11 a.m. to2 p.m., a $15 gift, benefitting Homefront Heroes, will reward romantic donors with a leisurely carriage ride through bucolic Olde Town Arvada, a sweet treat of chocolates from Stephany's Chocolates and a photograph to capture their magical moment. Other cupids can support Homefront Heroes with a cash donation at various Olde Town businesses, and receive a delectiblethanks of Stephany's Chocolates.
The "Hearts for Heroes" care package drive will gather donations of Valentines, snacks, powdered drink mixes, disposable razors, wet wipes, Silly String and other shippable items for our American Troops serving all over the world. Items will be gratefully received on Saturday, February 10, at Arvada Army Navy Surplus, 5701 Olde Wadsworth in Olde Town Arvada. (Donors will receive a surprise treat for their generosity.) Into the Fire/Paint Your Own Pottery Studio, 7409 Grandview, will again host children who want to create the perfect Valentine for any recipient, including American soldiers.
