A Feeling of Enchantment
Contributed by: John McEvoy on 2/10/2007

Laura,

The moment I saw you across the church from me, I was attracted to you. When our eyes met from that distance, I felt a spark of enchantment. Then, you began to play and became even more beautiful. If the attraction is mutual, please call or email me. If it was simply my vivid imagination, please forgive me and I hope that you take no offense at my boldness in this letter.

Sincerely, John

This was my first e-mail to Laura. We had met while I was on a blind date with another woman.

Susan had invited me to come to a church concert that she was the director of. I knew immediately that Susan and I were not a match, and so did she.

Meanwhile, I am sitting in the audience waiting for the concert to begin when Laura walked down the aisle in her long black dress. Our eyes met and we smiled at each other. I felt a thrill course through me. Wow! It was love at first sight.

Laura was the flutist in the orchestra and she was incredible. She was beautiful. Playing a haunting melody on her silver flute, she had me awestruck.

After the concert, while Susan was talking with her many admirers, I discreetly ambled over to where Laura was talking with some other musicians. Not wishing to be impolite to Susan, who was my date after all, I simply struck up a conversation with Laura complementing her on her performance. We exchanged business cards, and I went back to say farewell to Susan.

Good Morning, John!
What a delightful surprise! Please tell me a little about you!
Laura

Laura and I e-mailed each other back and forth every day for three weeks. Finally, I said "There is this new technology called the telephone, we should try it." We spoke on the phone and made a date.

Our first date it rained. But we didn't care. Sitting in a coffee shop drinking tea, we talked for two hours as time stood still. Then we went to dinner and were the last people to leave.

Our second date, a week later, was a romantic picnic in the park. Smoked salmon with cream cheese on crackers, grapes and Riesling. After laughing delightedly together, I leaned forward, and we kissed.

Laura and I have been happily together nearly two years now and have spoken of a future together. Thanks for reading what I am happy to share. John McEvoy
