This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities. Join us for a celebration like no other on
Sunday, November 5 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m., featuring the grand opening of the newly expanded Arvada Center. Also included in the celebration will be performances by the Arvada Center Chorale and Front Range Youth Symphony, as well as ballet, jazz and modern dance demonstrations and a scene from the Children's Theater production of
James and the Giant Peach.
In addition to a ribbon-cutting ceremony and champagne toast by Mayor Fellman, there will also be ice carving and chef demonstrations, as well as hands-on activities like Clay Olympics and drama classes. Sweet treats will be provided by Whole Foods and other local bakeries and other party foods will be available.
The 2006 Public Art Commission winner will also be announced at the November 5 festivities. The three finalists' design concepts were on display for a public vote in the Arvada Center's main entrance until September 30. The winning design will be prominently featured in a courtyard outside the new black box theater. The artwork is intended to mark the completion of the expansion project and serve as a tribute to the Arvada Center's 30 th Anniversary. The Public Art Commission is proudly sponsored by our partners Fentress Bradburn Architects Ltd. and Saunders Construction Inc.
Guests at the celebration will have the opportunity to tour the new expansion. The Center will have 19,000 square feet of new space that includes a 200-seat black box theater, a new 2300 square foot ballroom, ceramics studio renovations and expanded exhibition space and new multi-purpose room for the Gallery and History Museum, as well as refurbishment of the existing Banquet facility, a new stage for the main stage theater and a new performing arts scene shop.
