Our mother,
Mary Fulton, wrote several articles for your paper. She was very proud when they were printed. One was on Pearl Harbor and another was about her many years attending the Harvest Festival.
We lost our beloved mother on July 5 and we would like everyone to know what a special lady she was. She was born in 1921 in Omaha, Neb., but moved to Denver when she was young. She spent some of her summers with a friend at the Denver Mint, where the guards allowed them to sit on the wall and watch as the gold bars were slid down a ramp into the basement.
She worked at Combs Aviation during the war, cleaning and repairing bullet holes on the plane. One day when she was working on a B-17, the plane took off for a test run over Denver not knowing she was there. When asked, "Mom, what did you do," she said, "Well, I kept on working."
With seven boys and six girls, Mom was a wonderful cook, known for her fried chicken and homemade cinnamon rolls. She also loved to shower her children with wonderful homemade gifts. But her favorite thing was to sit around and visit with family and friends.
She was very patriotic and loved her country and flag. You could always find the American flag in her yard. She also had many family members serve overseas, and she was very proud of each of them. Mom was an inspiration to all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
