Timothy Madigan and Kathleen "Kat" Christian will be married Aug. 5 in the Denver area. Tim is an officer in the Longmont Police Dept., and Kat is an assistant agricultural engineer.
Both Tim and Kat are graduates of Colorado State University. Tim grew up in Arvada and attended Arvada West High. He now lives in Thornton. They met last summer at a concert at Red Rocks, where one of Tim's best friends, Doren Schott, introduced them. The son of Mike and Julie, he proposed to Kat in April when they were visting San Francisco, where some of his family lives. He popped the big question on the grounds of the Coppola Winery in Napa and, with wine-sodden strangers and camera-snapping Japanese tourists cheering in the background, Kat replied, "Why not, I probably deserve you."
Kat grew up in Rawlins, Wyo. Her mother and father, Cory and Bill Christian, live in Reedsburg, Wis. Many members of Kat's family from the Midwest, and Tim's family from San Francisco and Iowa, will be traveling to Denver for the wedding and to pump up the local economy.
The wedding will be held in the foothills south of Red Rocks. Security will be provided by the wedding party, many of whom are members of Longmont SWAT. You can pick them out by their ghilly suits and night paint.
