The Pets Evacuation and Transportation Standards (PETS) Act, H.R. 3858 is urging Congress to quickly enact legislation that addresses the needs of the animals in future disasters. It was very clear that by not allowing people to take their pets during hurricane Kattrina caused many of them not to evacuate. Watching this unfold on TV was horrific for all animal lovers. Due to their efforts (and mine) this legislation was created. It is being sponsored by the Humane Society of United States (hsus.org), ASPCA and other organizations, and needs everyone's support. Please write to your representatives and Senators and tell them to support this bill. Tell your friends to write also. All the animals organizations made a tremendous difference in the lives of thousands of stranded animals after hurricane Kattrina. They also need our financial support. I hope you find it in your heart to take action and to make a contribution to save our pets who do nothing but love us unconditionally.
