Arvada Police

GRAFFITI DISCOVERED IN RESTROOM
Police were called to Safeway, 9517 Ralston Road, at 2:22 p.m. April 12 on a report of graffiti in the women's restroom. The graffiti contained several remarks accusing a store employee of being a "baby killer." The 21-year-old female employee whose name was mentioned in the graffiti told police she believed her former roommate, a 39-year-old woman, wrote the messages. The 21-year-old said the woman confronted her about being pregnant in August of 2007 even though she was not. The woman also made racist remarks about the 21-year-old's husband. While reviewing security footage, police observed the 39-year-old enter the restroom when the graffiti is believed to have occurred. The woman was arrested on suspicion of criminal mischief on April 16 and lodged at Jefferson County Jail. The estimated damage to the restroom was $300.

NASTY SURPRISE LEFT ON DOORSTEP
At 11:20 a.m. April 9, a 47-year-old Arvada woman called police to report that between 4:15 p.m. April 7 and 4:15 p.m. April 8 an unknown suspect smeared feces on her mailbox by her front door and left a bag of feces on her porch. The woman said she suspected the culprits were teenagers and that it took her two hours to clean up. Police had no suspect information at the time of the report.

Wheat Ridge Police
POLICE INVESTIGATE BOMB THREAT
Police responded to the Ramada Inn, 4700 Kipling St., at 10:29 p.m. April 25 on a report of a bomb threat. A man had reportedly called the Wheat Ridge dispatch and said, "4700 Kipling, there is a bomb here, someone is going to die." The owner of the motel said they had received about 30 phone calls where the caller either hung up or stayed on the line and didn't say anything. While searching the motel for anything suspicious, police located four Ethernet modems lying in a courtyard. Police evacuated the five rooms closest to the electronic equipment while the Jefferson County Bomb Squad was called. The squad determined the equipment was not an explosive. There was no suspect information at the time of the report.

MAN ARRESTED FOR DUI
A 37-year-old Denver man was arrested on suspicion of DUI at 1:05 a.m. April 26. An officer observed a car driving 60 mph in a 30-mph zone near West 32nd Avenue and Holland Street. The officer pulled over the vehicle on the 3300 block of Yarrow Street. The man appeared intoxicated and said he consumed a couple beers two hours ago. After the man reportedly failed roadside maneuvers, he was taken into custody. When the officer asked the man if he wanted a blood test or breath test, he man asked, "Why can't I test my breath at a later date?" The man was issued summonses on suspicion of careless driving, failure to signal and DUI and released to a friend.
