MAN REPORTS ATTEMPTED ID THEFT
An 87-year-old Arvada man contacted police in the lobby of the Arvada Police Department at 3:03 p.m. March 5 to report that he suspected someone had tried to steal his identity. The man told police he had received a letter from Garden State Life Insurance Company indicating that his request for life insurance had been denied, but that he had never applied for life insurance. The man provided a copy of the letter and application, which showed that someone had used his name and address. Police had no suspect information at the time of the report.
ELECTRONICS STOLEN DURING PARTY
Police responded to a home on the 13900 block of West 84th Place at 3:55 p.m. March 5 on a report of a theft that occurred during a March 1 house party. A woman told police that her 16-year-old daughter had thrown parties Feb. 29 and March 1 while she was out of town, and a laptop computer and camera were stolen during one of the parties. The teen told police that about 30 people had shown up during the March 1 party, including about six males who were unknown to her. She said that after noticing the missing items, she asked all her friends about the incident and didn't come up with any clues. The mother estimated the value of the camera at $350 and the computer at $2,000.
$25,000 BOBCAT ON THE LOOSE
A 49-year-old Arvada man came to the lobby of the police department at 11 a.m. March 5 to report that a Bobcat Mini Digger he had rented from a rental shop in Arvada had been stolen. The man said he had parked the machine in the driveway of a man whom he knew at 4 p.m. March 4, but he couldn't provide police with the man's name. He said he returned four hours later and saw that the Bobcat was missing. Police contacted the man at the address given by the 49-year-old, on the 8800 block of Oberon Road, and he said that at no point had a Bobcat been parked in his driveway, nor did he know the man who lost the Bobcat. The Bobcat was described as white with an orange door that has the number 68 painted on it. Employees of the rental company told police the Bobcat is worth $25,000.
